Benefits: Previcox is formulated especially to alleviate the pain and inflammation of arthritis in dogs by inhibiting COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2), which helps generate chemicals that are responsible for pain and inflammation, while sparing COX-1 (cyclooxygenase-1), which helps maintain normal bodily functions. Previcox offers fast pain relief in a convenient, once-a-day flavored tablet. In field studies with dogs as old as 19 years, Previcox provided pain relief for osteoarthritis with fewer gastrointestinal problems. For use: Dogs (at least 7 weeks of age and weighing at least 12.5 lbs) Active ingredient(s): firocoxib Cautions: Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. The following drugs can potentially interact with firocoxib: naiads, aspirin, ACE inhibitors, corticosteroids, digoxin, fluconazole, furosemide, sulfonamides, oral anticoagulants, and methotrexate. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.
