Treatment for hypokalemia Available in gel or tablet forms Dosage: Each 2.34 g (1/2 teaspoon) contains 2 mEq (468 mg) of potassium gluconate in a palatable base. The suggested dosage of RenaKare Gel for adult cats and dogs is 2.34 g (1/2 teaspoon) per 10 lbs (4.5 kg) body weight twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted to satisfy patient's need. Administration: RenaKare Gel is highly palatable. To initiate interest in taste, place small amount on the animal's nose or on the roof of its mouth. Gel may be placed on the paw after initial interest has been established. Warning: Do not administer in diseases where high potassium levels may be encountered, such as severe renal insufficiency or adrenal insufficiency.
