Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution is a sterile topical ophthalmic antibiotic formulation prepared specifically for topical therapy of external infections. Benefits: Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution is used to treat a variety of gram-negative and gram-positive ophthalmic pathogens in the eyes. For use: Dogs, cats & horses Strength/Size: .3% Active ingredient(s): tobramycin Cautions: This medication does not have an FDA approved indication for use in animals, but it is a common and acceptable practice for veterinarians to prescribe this human medication for use in animals. Do not use tobramycin ophthalmic if your pet has a viral or fungal infection in the eye. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria only. Do not use other eye drops or medications during treatment with tobramycin ophthalmic unless otherwise directed by your veterinarian. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication or supplements you are giving to your animal. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your animal more closely. The following drugs can potentially interact with tobramycin: gentamicin, amphotericin B, ketoconazole, erythromycin, cimetidine, phenobarbital, and phenytoin. Contact your veterinarian if your animal experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies.
